The Grange

Case Study

Rendering & Roughcasting

The Grange

The property had been a rendered finish with keyed pointing to give a blockwork appearance. This had many layers of paint which were starting to flake off and there were signs of cracking. The owners wanted to keep the unique look of the property but try and give it a more contemporary and modern finish. They didn’t like the usual dry dash finish that some of the neighbouring properties had. We decided to use JUBB acrylic render and pick out some of the original raised bands. A great deal of time and effort went into the front elevation to leave this finish and we had to extend the slating to the front pediment roof to stock and water getting in behind the render over the coming years and to prevent staining. With this in mind and trying to keep the cost low for our client we recommended finishing the gable elevation in a white dry dash and we then over-coated the rear of the house and the extension to freshen up the appearance of the house.
New white gutters and downpipes helped complete the finished job to our client's remit and budget.
